Why Astronauts Don't Have Back Pain

I’ve got several new patients with back pain. Some brand new pain, some chronic that flares up on them.

Here’s a paid post on the tools I give them to actually manage their pain.

Your don’t have to be in pain for these to help you.

You can use them just to feel BETTER than you do, or as a preventative measure.

My typical conversations with new patients includes a variation of this:

(Me) “What have you done in the past for it?”

(Patient) “I was given some stretches”

“Did the stretches help?”

“I’m not sure”

Here’s a secret the elites don’t want you to know:

You can’t stretch the low back.

You can see from the cartoon drawing below that the back has

  1. several muscles and

  2. several layers

And they all go in multiple direction. Like the ripples on a pond when you drop a pebble in the water.

Regardless of how you move, some muscle will stretch, some will flex.

Stretching isn’t totally worthless since it can give you temporary relief, but you aren’t really “changing” anything other than how you feel.

Nothing wrong with feeling better, but temporary relief can be a waste of time

Especially if there’s something BETTER

Generic stretches are usually given out to “cover all your bases” without really digging into WHY you need (or DON’T need) a particular stretch.

So, you feel SOMETHING after you do them, but it’s usually temporary, if anything at all.

So here’s the REAL problem…
