I tell clients all the time (massage therapist in a chiro office) that the straight bar bench is terrible if you have shoulder issues, and the regular squat with a straight bar is bad if you have issues w your lumbar spine. In fact, pull ups with a neutral grip are way better for your shoulder health too.

neutral grip pull ups/downs are my default for everyone, so I agree 100% with you. We have to do other variations for clients since the USMC pt test has overhand or underhand, but I throw neutral grip into their programs as well.

Man this hits way too close to home. Was rehabbing my shoulders, feeling decent and decided to do straight barbell bench without weight for 3 sets….put my rehab back weeks. Now I’m consulting with Bengal next week😅
